Austin Rain – this was composed on a plane trip from Washington DC to Austin, Texas. It is based on the styles of Polish classical composers of the romantic period. Like Poland, the area around Austin, Texas has both a few rolling hills, but is mostly plains. Imagine a huge, sweeping plain around you and the steady sound of the hoofbeats of your horse as you approach either Warsaw or Austin. Manibus Sangus – this is a cathartic song. It is played solely by a mournful string section. Let the feelings wash over and through you. The dark path – this song was originally composed for an Indie director's horror film as the main theme. The story was of a man who lost his love first to his indifference and then to a monster. You can hear elements of both of those themes in this short gem. Sweet dark love – this is the theme for the romantic interest in the horror film. Note that it has elements of passion as well as premonitions of coming danger. Slowly Sweetly deadly – this is a variation on the romantic theme. It was designed to bring out the more romantic and dreamy aspects of the love interest. It shares elements with her original themes song, but it does it with more romantic flourishes. As flows of the river – this is a song about continuing in the face of adversity. Life is not always going to hand us the most pleasant things. Like a mighty River, we need to continue to survive, thrive, and carry-on in spite of adversity. You should flow like a river.
