About the Songs
Each of the songs on the album has a story behind it, and we are glad to share those stories with you. Track 1 - Abaixe Se - (2:51) - This was the first track composed by the group in the summer of 2021. The title means “get down” and talks to the funky feeling of the song. We hope that you can get down to it. Track 2 - Eu Quero - (3:07) - This is the title track. The title, Eu Quero, is part of a dance floor dialogue. Venha dançar comigo (Come Dance with Me), and não, mas eu quero eu quero (No, but I want to, I want to). If you listen carefully, you can hear those words in the instrumentation (light vocoding). Track 3 - Gato - (3:16) - The title, Gato, means cat, but if you have ever been to Brazil then you know that the cat is the coolest, sexiest thing around. This song blends the brass from Slap House with the piano accordion of Brazilian Forró couples dance music. This song should be a favorite that any generation can dance to. Track 4 - Gostoso - (3:22) - Literally translated, Gostoco, means “yummy,” but to our Brazilian brothers and sisters it means something more than tasty. This song is a little slower tempo and more sensual and let’s the dancers get a little closer with more hot touches and bounces. Enjoy the song, and may your evening lead to utterances of “Gostoso!” Track 5 - Venha Comigo - (3:13) - The title means come with me and is the intro to many fun activities including dancing. It has a big band, dance hall feel to it. Brazilian families often would go to dance halls together, and the club dancers of today frequently had their starts dancing with relatives to traditional, big band swing music. We hope that this song leads to many couples enjoying dancing and other special activities together. Track 6 - Vamos - (3:34) - The song title means “we will” or “let’s,” and it is an invitation to fun adventures together. This one is a bit uptempo and violates the Slap Dance credo of 120 BPM. This song has a spicy interplay between traditional Brazilian instruments and was composed to convey a sense of “apaixonada.” May your nights dancing to this final song be spicy meus amigos.
