Our Story to Date
4/12/2023 Clayday, Death Week, Sea Season, Year of the Overlord 2164. Igny and Chance each used one of the stones to grow in ability without needing to train, leaving three stones remaining. The party reconvened with Ole. First, Ole brought out a beaver that appeared to be trying to communicate something. Igny cast Speak with Animals and learned that the beaver was a druid by the name of Rudolph who had become stuck in a beaver’s body. Ole offered to let Rudolph join the party, and the party accepted. Next Ole brought out a prisoner in chains – a summoner by the name of Ebenezer. Igny cast Zone of Truth and the party questioned the prisoner. Ebenezer had been caught by the lycanthropes attempting to summon a knowledge spirit to learn how to summon more powerful beings. He stated that he wished to fight the halflings as they had stolen the land from “us.” If left in Ole’s custody, Ebenezer would be put to death. Somewhat warily, the party agreed to take Ebenezer with them. Ole and the party then discussed their immediate plans. The party agreed to tackle the werewolves first. Ole suggested that if the party could somehow become invisible, he could sneak them to the edge of the werewolf camp. Unfortunately, the party had no way to become invisible. However, the party did decide they would attack at the new moon, in five days. As they were planning with Ole, the party heard a loud boom come from the south, about the right distance away to have come from the Markowitz manor. Because there was time to wait before attacking the werewolves, the party decided they had better head south and spend a couple of days investigating what had happened at the manor. No sooner had they headed out than they ran into Xaris and Dethjak who explained that when the clerics attempted to cleanse the manor of spirits it had exploded and seven people were seriously injured. The party traveled to the manor and realized that Ragin Bunce was missing; it seemed he may have been in the house when it exploded! Just then, Chance noticed that a large stone in the wreckage of the manor was vibrating. Xaris and Igny, working together, lifted the rock to reveal Bunce, protected by some sort of force field! Bunce explained to the party that he had found a second memory stone and accessed it. In the Baron’s memory, he spoke with colorful crystals about the party and the Disk of Worlds. Afterwards, Bunce was able to move objects with his mind! When the clerics went to exorcise the house, it had collapsed, but Bunce was able to use his newfound psionic powers to protect himself and survive. Meanwhile, Ebenezer explained that he had seen the manor before. He had, in fact, witnessed Baron Markowitz slaughter his entire staff to summon the uber hobgoblin. He had also been caught by Baron Kirin attempting to steal from the manor. While discussing their next steps, Igny lamented that the party had no way to turn invisible, rendering their only plan of attack moot. A cleric, overhearing Igny, gave the party a scroll of Greater Invisibility with a 10 foot radius and 10 minute duration. The party returned to Eleva to rest for the night before journeying back to Ole’s camp. As they were entering Poopy’s Place, Xaris noticed a rider whose horse was wearing the exact barding the party had left in the bag of holding. The rider dismounted and went inside, as the party followed her. She proceeded to attempt to sell the light stones the party had also left in the bag of holding, but Chance seized them explaining they were stolen goods. The rider, named Judith, took some “convincing” but eventually told the party that she regularly obtained goods from a leprechaun in the forest and sold them, splitting the proceeds with the leprechaun. She then left, after some choice words for the party. By the afternoon of Windsday, the party was back at Ole’s camp. The party decided that since they still had time before the new moon, they would go and talk to the leprechaun in the hopes of getting back the rest of the party’s missing goods. However, when they arrived at the blood fountain where they were supposed to meet Lucky the leprechaun, he was immediately distrustful of them and questioned why Judith was not with them. Eventually, he summoned several giant weasels and giant slugs to attack the party! Igny and Chance quickly cut down one of the weasels, which enraged Lucky. Meanwhile Xaris, Maddeus, and Dethjak made quick work of one of the slugs. A second weasel bit Chance, latching onto his neck, but Chance cast Hellish Rebuke, killing the attacker. About this time, Lucky himself joined the fray, appearing out of nowhere to flank Igny who was engaged with one of the slugs. Lucky attempted to cast some sort of spell on Igny, but it had no effect on him. As the rest of the weasels and slugs fell, Lucky saw the battle was going against him and attempted to flee. He transformed into an eagle and started to fly away. Before he could escape, however, Igny struck him with a mighty swing from Kekax, and smote Lucky, killing him! While searching and looting the area, Chance noticed a nearby tree trunk was glimmering. Igny cast dispel magic on it, and Lucky’s stash was revealed. In all, the party collected 9,000 lunars, 500 wheels, 90 gems, a blue potion, a scroll of Protection from Beasts, a 4th level scroll of Doom of Serpent Coils, and a Ring of Protection, which Igny took. Maddeus also skinned the weasels, recognizing that their pelts would be quite valuable. He also took valuable components from the three dead giant slugs. And with that the session ended. TL;DR: Markowtiz’s manor blew up, but it wasn’t the party’s fault; the party killed a leprechaun fence.
