8/24/2022 The session began where the last left off: the party had just defeated a wave of slimes, but saw new slimes ahead. Quickly, the party agreed to take a short rest by hiding in a pocket dimension using the disk of pocket dimensions. They returned to the pocket dimension with the island that they had previously visited with Mango. As before, there were huts on a beach that appeared deserted. The party rested for an hour and used the Rose to heal up before returning to the fight against the slimes. The slimes were awaiting the party's reappearance, and combat commenced immediately. Gunther again erected an earthen wall to block off the right flank and hopefully force the slimes towards Xaris and Igny on the left. Unfortunately, the slimes began climbing the stalagmites and attacking the more "armor challenged" party members. Gunther went down and had to be stabilized by Helegan. Meanwhile, Xaris, Dethjak, and Igny were busy trying to hold the left flank. Dethjak, determined to make up for his earlier failures, valiantly defended Xaris with his shield, twice saving him when it appeared Xaris would be hit by the slimes. In addition to the medium sized slimes, there was a large slime, and a huge slime. The huge slime jumped over the line formed by Xaris, Dethjak, and Igny to effectively surround them. About this time, the smaller slimes started to fall, both on the left and right flanks. The large slime fled the chamber, but the huge slime stayed and attacked Chance, swallowing him whole! The party leapt to try to rescue Chance, and dealt a barrage of attacks that caused the huge slime to spit out Chance. With the entire party concentrating their attacks on the huge slime, they quickly defeated it and the battle was over. At this point, Kralla appeared with six lizard-men hauling the frozen Undying King. He was surprised and disappointed that the party had not yet recovered the third and final stone needed to open the portal to his realm. The party explained that one large slime had escaped, and they all headed after it together. They came to a staircase leading down into a room. The slime was waiting for them on the far end of the room, and beckoned them closer. The slime was standing next to an inactive portal -- the portal to the lizard-men's realm. Also next to the portal was an enormous egg. The slime gave the party the third and final stone to open the portal, which the party did. Just then, Bilius appeared and offered the party a deal -- let him go through the portal with the Undying King and Kralla, and in return he would give us the Ball of String we sought as well as the Talisman of Slimes, which would allow the party to control any slimes they encountered. The party agreed to these terms. Meanwhile, when the portal opened, Kralla slit the throats of three of the lizard-men, and their blood dissolved the amber substance the Undying King was frozen in. Kralla and the Undying King began talking in their own native tongue, when all of the sudden Bob the Dragon appeared! Bob joined the conversation with the Undying King and Kralla, and jointly the three of them decided to leave through the portal together. Thus it was revealed that Bob had been working with the Undying King the whole time. After Bob, Kralla, the Undying King, and Bilius had all entered the portal, the party decided that they didn't trust the giant egg so they rolled that through the portal as well. Then, they deactivated the portal and destroyed the control panel and one of the three stones used to control it. Using the Talisman of Slimes, they had the large slime lead them out of the complex. As they made their way out, any slimes they encountered joined them and fought any lizard-men or gnolls that attacked. By the time they exited, hundreds of slimes had joined them. The party crossed the valley and climbed up the ropes they had left behind when they first came to the valley. Their hundreds of slime followers were sadly abandoned in the valley below. And with that the session ended. The party plans to return to Ivy Shade to report back on everything that happened, and then make their way to Quivera to train and level up. TLDR: The party killed some more slimes and then everyone else left through a portal which the party promptly disabled.
