7/20/2022 Continuing from the last session, the party found themselves in front of an oracle, which each of them could ask one yes or no question. What an amazing opportunity! So many possibilities! If only the party could think of any... the party realized that they could have weeks to think and prepare and might still be stumped as to the best six questions to ask the oracle. In the end, the questions they asked and responses they received were: Does Kralla intend to follow through on his promise to the party? Response: Yes. Is the grandmother of the knight / previous owner of the crystal dagger still alive? Response: Yes. Is Bilius here in this complex? Response: indeterminate; granted another question. Is the ball of string in the complex? Response: Yes. Is Dethjak capable of greatness? Response: Yes. Are the slime forces in the complex all located together in one place? Response: No. Do Bilius' forces in the complex number more than 15? Response: Yes After this, the party returned to Kralla and agreed to his plan, provided they could first have a long rest. After their rest, Kralla led the party to a cylindrical room with runes along the walls. After Kralla did something, the room began to rapidly descend. Eventually, they descended into a huge chamber, where a blindingly bright orb provided light. The chamber was filled with all manner of slimes. Indeed, there were in fact more than 15 slimes. The party encountered three types of slimes. The first was human-sized with a clear body that was suffused with debris. The next was translucent brown, and very cold - cold enough to harm those standing too close to it. The final type of slime had a large oblong body with black eyes, and was covered in crackling electricity. Upon entering the chamber, the party immediately moved to their right and Gunther cast a spell to erect an earthen wall between the outer wall of the chamber and some stalagmites, forcing all the slimes that were to the party's left to move all the way around the stalagmites to join the fight. Igny cast fireblade on Kekax and attempted to attack one of the frost slimes. However, just as the fiery blade was about to make contact with the slime, it was suddenly extinguished until withdrawn -- the slime was impervious to the fire! Meanwhile, Xaris swung his maul mightily, dealing massive damage, and Chance used his Eldrich Blast spell to great effect. Gunther cast another spell causing a dust storm to erupt in the middle of the chamber, slowing the slimes making their way around the stalagmites and buying the party precious time. Helegan used his bow to deal damage to the slimes from behind the front line. As for Dethjak... Well, he may be capable of greatness someday, but today was not that day. Despite his earnest efforts, attack after attack of his was harmlessly deflected by the slimes. Meanwhile, the slimes did grievous damage to Dethjak, forcing him to retreat to a corner of the chamber and try to regain some health. Eventually, the slimes began to fall under the barrage of attacks from the party. One of the large electrical slimes was looking wounded, and Xaris came in to finish it off with his maul. As he attacked it, a ball of lightning formed on his maul and started descending along the handle towards Xaris' hands. However, as Xaris' final strike killed the slime, the ball of lightning dissipated. As the horde of slimes thinned out, the party began making their way along the right wall of the chamber. The fleet-footed Helegan quickly charged to the front of the party and was the first to turn a corner between stalagmites, only to find himself face-to-face with several more slimes, including another large electric one! Igny stepped in to absorb the brunt of the attacks, allowing Helegan to fall back a few feet to relative safety. Eventually, the party whittled down the health of the large slime, and Igny dealt the killing blow. Igny still remained in the front of the formation, with two new types of slimes around him. These slimes had yellow globules all over their bodies. Meanwhile, Xaris was defending the back left flank of the party and had just defeated the last of the slimes on that side. And with that, the session ended. TLDR: the party asked some questions of an oracle, and fought a bunch of slimes, but the fight continues next session.
