Our Story to Date
10/26/2022 After the great battle of the farmstead, the party searched the remains of the minotaurs and their minions. They recovered 633 clacks, 59 lunars, and 10 wheels. They also found a wooden chest covered in floral carvings containing a set of finely-crafted leather armor, a book of poems written in Timerian and four bronze throwing daggers. Additionally, they recovered a sack containing a finely crafted green saddle, bridle, and additional equine accoutrements. The sack also contained a pair of ornate bracers, black silk breeches, and a green drawstring bag holding 33 lunars and 5 wheels, stylized with a dragon. The party identified the coins as belonging to the Lei Po empire. Once the party was finished examining their newfound loot, they took to interrogating the captured minotaur. The minotaur was wearing a necklace that held a runic iron ring with one bump on it. Chance noticed that it looked very similar to Mango's ring, and deduced that it had previously belonged to an Archmage. The ring contained an inscription of a stylized letter "i". As the party began to interrogate the minotaur, they quickly got to the topic of the minotaur witch doctor, Goglima. No sooner did the minotaur mention her name than glowing runes began to appear on his neck. The minotaur began to have difficulty speaking and was in distress, as the runes began to spread. The party urged Igny, as the only one present with a sharp blade, to try to cut the runes out of the minotaur's skin with Kekax. Igny grudgingly obliged, but the operation was only a partial success: the runes indeed stopped spreading, but the minotaur's head was no longer attached to his body. After the botched interrogation, the party had little choice but to head back to Knight's Crossing, where they arrived at midnight of Windsday. In the morning, the party spoke with Victalin, the commander of the keep, and Siri, the court mage. Siri gave the party 5 healing potions, and allowed Chance to borrow a ring of flying. Additionally, Siri let Gunther borrow a robe of protection. Victalin furnished Dethjak with a bow from the armory. Siri shared with the party a vision he had from his divination efforts. He saw an encampment cut out a hill, somewhere within 21 miles of Knight's Crossing. Examining the map, the party deduced the approximate location of the minotaur camp, and decided to approach from the south, hopefully avoiding some of the minotaur forces that would surely be guarding a more direct route. The party set off on their way to the minotaur camp. Once they entered the forest, Igny noticed something odd: all of the squirrels and birds were watching the party intently. The party deemed it likely that they were under the effect of some sort of spell and spying for the minotaurs. The party's approach would not be a surprise. As the party continued through the forest, they heard something huge moving in the distance. Dethjak tried to climb a tree to see what it was, but poor Dethjak fell from the tree and hurt himself. Xaris instead tried his hand, and successfully climbed up the tree. From the top he was able to spy three minotaurs riding giant spiders! The party decided to follow their trail in hopes it would lead them to the minotaur camp. Next, the party came across a fort guarded by minotaurs. The party decided to avoid the fort and try to circle around it instead. As they did so, they were set upon by two minotaurs riding enormous spiders. The minotaurs both cast some spell that turned their heads into giant spider heads! The spiders managed to web Xaris, restraining him, but Xaris was able to quickly break free. The minotaurs cast a spell on their axes, which seemed to produce an effect similar to Igny's Bladesharp spell. Igny moved into position to flank the first spider, and unleashed a mighty Smite on it. The first spider and minotaur both fell quickly thereafter, but not before the second spider was able to surround and poison Igny. As it took damage, the second spider cast some sort of spell, and when it died it created a massive explosion! The party looted 17 wheels, 71 lunars, and 2 giant bronze axes from the remains. After a while of traveling, the party eventually approached the minotaur camp, which was exactly as Siri described it. Of note, there was a cave entrance in the cliff wall at the back of the camp. The camp was guarded by two normal minotaurs, two minotaurs standing at the ready next to a pile of giant rocks, and two minotaurs riding giant spiders with pouches containing large rocks for throwing. Additionally, there were about 20 chaos creatures, similar to the ones the party had faced before in the earlier encounters with the minotaurs. Finally, both the minotaur chieftain and witch doctor were present as well. A massive battle ensued. Chance launched a fireball at the chieftain and everyone around him. Xaris and Igny charged directly into the fray, attacking one of the minotaurs. Then, the chieftain cast Heat Metal on Igny's armor, causing Igny to cook inside his heavy plate. With no way to counter the spell, the only way Igny could survive is if someone broke the chieftain's concentration. Knowing this, the party concentrated their ranged attacks on the chieftain. Dethjak used his bow to fire two arrows at the chieftain, while Chance unleashed a second fireball, then used Siri's ring to fly into the air and fire an Eldritch Blast at the chieftain. Finally, the spell was broken and Igny was saved. However, the reprieve was short lived. Dethjak fell under blows from the minotaurs, and soon thereafter Gunther went down as well. Igny was surrounded by chaos creatures and was knocked unconscious. Next, Xaris fell, leaving only Chance. Around this time, three figures in white who had been sneaking behind the minotaur lines jumped out and stabbed the witch doctor, who had been spending the entire battle engrossed in stirring a pot and casting some sort of incantation on it. With the rest of the party unconscious, Chance used his last resort: he cast the second Wish spell from the ring of three wishes. Chance wished for the party to be revived to full health and transported to the back of the minotaur encampment just behind the witch doctor. Suddenly it was so. The rest of the battle was a blur and afterwards nobody seemed to recall the exact details of how it happened, but the party killed the witch doctor and the rest of the minotaur guards, but the chieftain managed to flee the battle. And with that the session ended. TLDR - Chance used a Wish to avoid a total party kill and defeat the minotaurs
